About
The 1st international patent for a biosourced and biodegradable additive linked to a flotation process against PFAS in water is signed by SPUMA.
This innovation makes it possible to detect and extract PFAS – chemical substances (per- and poly-fluorinated compounds), better known as ‘forever chemicals’ and listed as endocrine disruptors – from aqueous media.
A solution that’s fast, economical and biodegradable.

Facing the risks
Spuma innovation
SPUMA has developed a method for treating water contaminated by PFAS. This method uses a patented biological additive that considerably increases the elimination of PFAS.

Applications
In response to the problem of PFAS contamination, SPUMA has developed solutions for treating PFAS in aquatic environments.
This natural bio-additive represents an effective response to the major challenge of widespread PFAS pollution in water, particularly in surface and groundwater, industrial effluents, landfill leachates and wastewater treatment plants.
Research
Spuma has a laboratory and a specialised multidisciplinary team incubated at the Pôle d’Innovation des Couronnes aimed at treating PFAS, better understanding these compounds and implementing treatments.
